I have a 2002 chev pickup and I want to find another way of getting a tach signal for a remote starter I am installing. Does anyone know of any options besides connecting to the ECM which is located in the engine compartment.

you could also try it at the injector. remember you will always want the strongest signal possible.

Go to one of the coil packs on the driver's side of the engine.  Each coil has four wires, and three are always the same color.  You want to hook up to any of the "always different" wires..... the light blue one seems to be the easiest one to grab.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

VIOLET/WHITE is the vehicle tach wire and the GREEN is for the alarm color for the Design Tech alarm systems. Not applicable to your install.

I installed a python 1500 in my 99 silverado.  I got the tach wire behind the instrument cluster.  You should be able to test the wire at the harness and make sure it will work.  I haven't had any problems with mine.  It was a lot easier that way.

Does VILOT/WHITE mean vilot wire in the white plug?  If so what if I have to hook up to more than one ignition coil like it says I may have to do in my installation instructions.
