I just installed a remote starter in 2001 Caravan. Everything goes O.K. I powered up the ign2 wire with the 180ohm resistor via a relay. The vehicle starts just fine under remote. However, the blower won't run under remote start, not even with the key in the ignition. It won't blow until in disengage the remote with the brake. Am I missing a wire? All there is is a starter wire, ign1, ign2(resistor)and a constant power. These are all small 18ga wires. There are two more wires there, but these don't seem to change under starting. There is no ACCESSORY wire to be hooked up on the Caravan. If the ignition wires and both starter wires have been properly connected, the Heater/AC should engage.

If the heater doesn't work even with the key on, something's wrong on the car. Either you've cut a wire, or damaged something, or blown a fuse. I'm not saying all that to scare you, I'm just mentioning all the possibilities......of course, you should check the fuses first. Also, do you know that the heater has a separate Power button above the knobs? That must be turned on for the fan to operate.

Another thing. The PURPLE / brown 180-ohm wire is a second STARTER, not ignition. Hopefully you just made a typing error, but if you do have it wired up as an ignition wire, you'll of course want to go back and change that.

2001 Dodge Caravan - Last Post -- posted image. also you should not connect your constant at the ignition switch run it to the battery directly ...if your heater works with the key and not the remote start this could be your problem there is suffecient amperage on the ignition constant to supply the remote starter...

you need to change the wire with the resistor to a starter wire when this is engaged with ground thru the resistor the accessories turn off. so switch it to trigger off the starter wire not 2nd accessory.

By the way, at the BCM on the firewall, there are five square plugs all in a row, going up and down. (The third one down is where you get the door lock wire.) Anyway, in the top plug there's a thick wire, which is suitable for constant power.

Yes Chris I know the plug for the locks. But it has about six wires the same colour as the lock wire. I'm not sure of which one to use. Can you tell me which one and tell me so many across and so many down. It's hard to determine pin #23 from pin #18. 2001 Dodge Caravan - Last Post -- posted image.

The pins are numbered on the harness where the wire enters the plug ( most of the time )

Thanks Jeff. I got the locks going and the blower. NOW!!! The engine light is coming on. It didn't at first, but after starting the vehicle with the key a few times the light is on. Also when started with the key it runs very rough. However when started with the remote it runs fine. Any Ideas?
