hello, I installed a commando fm-870 in my '03 chev silverado and the remote range sucks bigtime like maybe 150-200 ft, any suggestions as to the cause or something to check to remedy this. it is a two way remote that advertized 2500ft range. thanks for your time    steve

You want the antenna to be as low to the bottom of the windshield as possible. Some newer model GM vehicles have somewhat of a metallic/magnetic coating. The lower the antenna the better the reception on this vehicle. Also while trying to use the remote in some areas such as houses buldings ect will dramatically cut down on the distance. Similar to "dead zones" on cell phones. Also note that the specified range noted from the manufacturer is good on non obstructing open space on a clear day.

Let me know if this helps any.
