Hey everyone,

I put in a 528T Timer Relay in our VUE about at month ago to stop the "auto" headlights from coming on when the remote starter is cranking over... Everything went great.

Untill today when the HID's kicked in right as it started, so I checked it out and there is a chip in there that turned "white" and mad the board around it all black....

Has anyone else had problems with this relay? or did I just get a bad one somewho...

you overloaded the relay, it burned.. Someone else might post with more experience with the 528T

Hi,

I've had a few defective 528T's over the last month or so. I wouldn't go as far as assuming the piece was overloaded, as the pieces i had had a burned up resistor inside it. The relay contacts are independent of the timing control circuitry. Just my two cents.

Ya that's what happened to mine too.... I should of said it was a resistor that is burnt...

Also I have the power running all the time to the unit - is that the problem?

Ya I had a better look at it, and its the resisotor right after the diode where the RED (+) wire comes in.

Hi,

Shouldn't be a problem with it powered continously, as the unit does time out. If it caused a dead battery, i'm sure you would have heard about it by now.

ok one last question - (don't laugh) I didn't use a FUSE on the power wire, this time I think I'm going to. Do you think that could of caused the problem, also what size of fuse would you use?

no, that wouldn't have caused the problem...if it was going to fail, it would have failed. if you were to fuse the red battery lead, a one amp fuse should be fine.

K - now I'm super confussed.... I got a new relay, and I but a 2A fuse in there now. I just went start it up and its not working agian.... I'll have to take it apart tomorrow and see what's up now.

K - now I'm super confussed.... I got a new relay, and I put a 2A fuse in there now. I just went start it up and its not working agian.... I'll have to take it apart tomorrow and see what's up now.
