Hi. Just installed my 4th ported box in 2 weeks. Sounds great (to me that is...). Well almost, when turning up the volume quite a bit (well before distorting point) it sounds as if the bass gets somewhat "flatter" or "damped".... I cannot really explain but loudness stays, maybe just the bass freq goes up a bit... I have not yet set the radio's volume / AMP boost therefore peak is achieved at 50 - 60% of radio's max but guess this cannot cause the issue. Also, the radio is not the best, it’s a Sanyo. I’ll be getting my Rockford 9120 next week but again I cannot image the radio can cause this.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Nick

You're saying the "quality" of the tones changes?  That's probably the head unit or pre-amp distortion and clipping.
