Hey guys, would the Pioneer GM-5000T (Bridged) be enough to power 1 Alpine SWR-1241D? Also, would a cap be necessary? I've only got about 80 watts RMS running 4 channels right now from a RF amp.

How much power does the pioneer put out at 2 ohm? in RMS.

Ah, I was afraid you would say that. So I need a 2ohm stable amp then huh? If I had another sub to wire, I could have done a 4ohm load right? Oh well. Does Bestbuy carry an amp that would be suitable for the sub? (Want to spend some giftcards...) Thanks

To power that sub, you will need a 2 ohm stable amp, ,or one that puts out at 8 ohm, but thats unrealistic.  I have no idea what bestbuy carries , but look for something in the 400-500rms range at 2 ohm.

If you haven;'t bought the sub yet, you can get a SWR-1221D and it will work just fine with your amp. Just wire it in series to 4 ohm then bridge it on your amp.

And as for your cap question earlier, not it wont help you out.

Amp for SWR-1241D -- posted image.

So I could use the Pioneer Amp

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1067391222386&skuId=6195903&type=product
And wire the SWR-1241D into a 4ohm bridged load like so? I'm only going to get one sub...
I appreciate all the help :)

Uhh, no i do  not reccomend that.   Get a SWR-1221D <<note that model #  its the dual 2 ohm model.  You would wire the sub in series to get a total 4 ohm load, then run the 2 wires from the sub to the bridging terminals on the amp.

When you walk into bestbuy get the SWR-1221D and that amp, and your good to go.   If you walk out with the SWR-1241D you will be returning it after 5 min of use beacuse you will only be putting like 100 watts to it.
