I am going to install a remote start in my '99 Grand prix. I want to maek sure that the 555L is what I need. I was also told that i could use a resistor. Does anyone know what resistor I would need? Thanks in advance for any help.

Passlock 2 is what is require for your car.
Use the bypass module instead. It's a lot less work than finding the right resistor.
Here is the diagram if you want to try it out.

99 GP, does not have passlock 2, PASSKEY 3, or TRANSPONDER is a better name, GM-TB4 is what u need, or u can use a unversal and put a key in the bypass, but that is shady and sometimes dont work.  A 99 GRAND AM, has passlock 2
