It lights up when i tap on the car .. but it does not set off the alarm.. also the alarm activates when the car is on and running.....i took the car for a spin and now the Check engine light came on... When the alarm  goes off the ignition kill works fine...i dont know what my problem is... i hooked up the yellow wire from the  alarm harness straight to the ignition.. i tried programing it but th vallet switch is not working... can any one help me out please.....ASAP.... Thank you..

try this reset the alarm by unpluging... it if the yellow wire is hook up to the starter kill relay then to ignition make sure you have the right ignition wire... test with volt meter.....you may need to reset the car's bcm disconnect the cars (+) side battery wire for a few minutes...

sounds like you didnt get a true ignition . check and advise . check engine light means most likely that a wire is not powered up by the remote start . try to start with the key and see if the light stays on if not then you need to power up another ignition wire.

I got  the correct wire for the ignition... i checked it with the volt meter and the test light to see if it would stay on... The only thing i did not do is hook up the yellow wire to the starter kill rellay on 86.. instead i hooked it up str8 to the ignition wire under the steering councel....im going to try reseting the alarm by the positive pole of the battery..if that does work i will try the the 86 on the starter kill rellay..  thanks guys... be back in 10 minutes... if there any other suggestion that can hel me out i would appreciate it alot ... Thanks
