Well I went to 2 different shops today, one recomended the GMBP unit. The other recomended the PLXR unit, I do believe this ubit to be the correct one. Noone had the PLDATA unit, they said these were the more up to date units

I went onto the bypasskit.com site and looked up the PLXR and it appears to be the one to use. This being it covers passlock 1 and 2 and 2 other GM security systems. The GMBP paper work only listed passlock 2 and 3 but NOT 1.

Now the othewr question here does a 98 tahoe have passlock 1 or 2??

Passlock 2

It's great that those units handle all that extra stuff for installers but if you don't have passlock I or Passkey 3 then it's kinda overkill and more expensive. The unit will work fine though so good luck with the install.

Thanks, ill be back with more questions im sure this weekend.

I am going to pick up most likley the PLXR unit tomm after work. the one shop had it for 38 dollars the other wanted 55.
