This all depends on the type of vehicle, but to know where the lock and unlock wires are at you have to get a good source of wiring info. diagram.    12 volt has one of these.
or you can to pay for something like this.
wiring info.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.door lock unlock question - Last Post -- posted image.

when you lock and unlock the doors with the master lock or switch you more often than not can hear a relay click when you round about find where this click is coming from put your hand on the relays in the area so you can feel the relay click then probe tghe wires in that relay, if there is a master switch then you can sometimes find the wires behind the switch and if the switch is in the door, probe the wires in the kick panel that come through the door jam also some people will find the locking relays in the bcm by probing the circuit board not really recomended but can cut down time good luck and may the force be with you !!! hope this helps
