i was toying with the idea of getting one of those cheap "raw" 3 1/2" lcd monitor's and turning it into something I could use as a nav display, camera or connect to a dvd player. But I want to do something different with it not in the usual headrest or visor. so that why i went with something small and not already in somekind of housing unit. The problem is "wiring" the thing, so that i can wire it like I would a regular pre packaged unit. Can anybody suggest so books, ideas, forums to look at. I've through a lot on here. I'm not new to this type of project, but this is getting a little beyond my knowlegde.

I haven't bought it yet, but i saw a 3 1/2 inch lcd screen that was basically naked. No housing, no covered wires just a basic screen. Imagine taking the headrest monitors apart completely the the LCD that is in the housing is what they wre selling. Sorry can't giv link.

I wouldn't recomend it, due to experience. I purchased a DIY lcd kit and it was a complete nightmare. better off finding something slightly used or buying new with a warranty.  Just a suggestion.
