replace the bypass unit for a dei unit the 555l is the only one i use for passlock 1 or 2 never ever a problem as long as you are on the correct wires ORANGE / black or black is the ground reference wire and yellow is the resistance wire.  connect both the key side and the car side of the resistance wire cause a permanent bypass is the stupidest thing to do, if grounding the ground while running wire is so easy to do when you hide the wires as best you can imagine if you permanently  bypass it totally.  come on let's face it if a thief wants your car he'll get it regardless of what you do so just keep paying for your insurance because murphy's law always applies and if your car is hot and someone wants it, they'll do thier homework and they'll get it.  so dei's 555l is simple to use, just connect the wires start the car with key and let it run for about 5-10 seconds and it's learnt the resistance, stop guessing with dipswitches before you ruin your passlock totally and have to pay a whole lot of money.  dei's 555l costs anywhere from 35 - 50 dollars only, so for less headache always go with dei they're the best.
