I've done a few demo cars for my boss. How did we go? it's simple...

Head unit...what ever looks cool!

Speakers...what ever looks cool!

Subs...what ever looks cool!

Amplifiers...what ever looks cool!

Get the drift? Just for fun - Page 2 -- posted image.

I guess I should elaborate a bit more....I say go for looks here because you are showcasing what you are capable of doing, in the long run you will be using high end gear, it's going to sound good without any help from you...Kenwoods vs. JL? Come on, in reality they are both good and your average Joe from off the street isn't going to pick any faults in the sounds and to be honest, the majority of us in here won't either, so looks are going to make your car the winner.

BTW Lotsa flashing lights help as well! Just for fun - Page 2 -- posted image.

I say go for midline SQ.
Show people how good it can sound without going nuts on drivers and amplifiers.
This is the setup I would respect seeing the most as a demo car.
You should use the W7 though. :)

That's exactly what I wanted to hear! The BIG question is , do you go crazy and put in $30,000 worth of parts and labor, or do you go with something people can actually afford, say about $3,000? I'm thinking Alpine D-310, JL 300/4, JL 500/1, Alpine SPX-177 (X2), JL W6V2 12". And yes Nik, LOTS of fiberglass!

Yea I'm alot more impressed with a demo car that I can actually attain than a line-up of uber-expensive parts from premier manufacturers... I look at that crap and salivate enough online I don't wanna see it in a car in a store I'm spending money in..
Ultimately, it feels discouraging.
I recall, to great effect on JL's marketing department, a demo car JL did for CES 2003 got the best of show or best sq or something using a line up TR stuff (the budget line) and something like 450watts off of 3 small amps.
A three page list of $500 parts does not make me nearly as interested.

I say go with an Alpine HU, Mcintosh or Nakamichi amp, and Adire Audio sub(s).
For the wiring... GO with the cheapest shielded cables you can find.
