I think DYohn has mentioned them before....perhaps he can shed some light on the situation.

I've used 6X9 subs before with no issues at al - except they will not produce the same kind of SPL as a 10" or 12" wooferl.  Onkyo makes a 2-ohm 6X9 subwoofer, and Madisound makes a 6X9 4-ohm subwoofer in their Sledgehammer series.  Also any standard 6X9 coaxial can be used as a woofer, it depends on what you need.

Hey awesome! The reason I ask is I just want to replace my 6x9 in the rear deck of my 96 accord. This car used to be a decked out show car but after I bought another car a while back I ripped out everything (including the w7) and it's all factory now. Well so happens I will be driving the accord again. But I don't want to go too far as to "sub it up". After the stint with the W7 my appetite for bass is not as strong as it was before. I still want to surpise people when they listen to my car but this time I think I'm going to go another route.
Here's my plan:
-5.1 surround sound
-3way components (8",6",tweeter)in the door
-bass shakers (hopefully Ebay has some)
-6x9 woofers maybe for midbass or sub
-maybe a 10" depending on how the 6x9s sound
does this sound good to you guys?

the 6x9s won't ever compare to say a 10, or probably even an 8...
just go w/ a single ten bridged off a small 2 channel and call it a day.
audiobahn's 6x9's give you the choice of mounting the tweeter on the woofer or seperate.

You could use the 6x9s in the rear to "fortify" the mid bass of the front speakers. You won't get too much bass, but you'll get more then from a 6.5in driver in the front.

I'd try those madisound drivers out...
With 8"s in the doors, 6x9"s in the back, and bass shakers you may not need a sub for personal listening.
Edit: madisound, along with a "new look" to their website (same crappy way of finding products) seems to have discontinued those 6x9" subs. At least I can't find them anywhere. :/
Have you thought about making some quickie mdf 6x9 to 6.5" baffles? How about some of those 13mm of excursion RE 6.5"s
