That particular amp does not have the remote bass knob option. Does your head unit have a sub level adjustment? If not, consider upgrading to a better amp. This one from MTX is decent in price and puts out more wattage than the one that you have and it has the remote knob option.

  Tha main problem with turning down the bass on the head unit is that it will affect the sound of the whole system and not just the sub.

Does you headunit have a sub out?  If it does usually it will allow you to turn off the sub....

As long as nothing is destorting then no that type of music (or any type of music for that matter) will not hurt a subwoofer. It just makes it sound all the much better imo.

I don't have any sub controls on my head unit, unfortunately.

Basically, I was just worried that it'd harm my sub to listen to heavy music with really quick beats. But if you guys say that it can't damage my sub, then I'll take your word for it.
