I was wondering about the installation of neon lights.  How is it done?  You can only fit so many of those frickin cigarette lighter plugs in one socket.  I don't have any plugged into mice, but a friend of mine has like 6 of them in one socket.  I want to put neon's in my car, but I don't want to half-ass it.  I want it to look and function correctly.  How do you hard wire it, or fuse it into a 12-volt source?  Thanks for your help.

I hope you don't have any plugged into your mice  neon lights -- posted image. j/k.

Anywho...I'm in the process of doing this myself. I have 2 10" neons that I'm putting under the dash.  You can just cut off the cig adapters on each, and hook them up to a switch (get one from an auto store for $2.00), and then wire it into the car.  No need to use the cigarette lighter.

I don't get what you mean..."You can just cut off the cig adapters on each."  What do you mean by that?  Do you mean wire the lights to the cigarette lighter, but take the cigarette lighter out?  If so...how many lights can you wire like this?  Thanks.

or do your mean cut the lighter adapter off of the neon tube?  But...then what do I wire it to for a power source?  Thanks.

Yes, you can cut off the cigarette adapter from the neon tube....then you should have two wires coming from the neon.  One of those gets grounded, and the other one can go behind the cigarette lighter for power.  In my car, the cig lighter only works with the car on, so I'm hooking it up there so my neons can't go on with the car being on.

hey....i just installed mine this weekend.  I put two under the dash.  I like how they look better when they're installed under the seat, rather than under the dash......but they were too big to put them under the seat.  It's cool because it lights up under the person's legs when under the seat, rather than shining down on their legs when under the dash.

DId you finish yours yet?

Not yet...I am saving to put in a stereo, and an amp, so I might just wait a little while longer and splice off of my amp power wire.  Thanks for the help!  I hope to put one under each seat, and a couple either on or in my sub box.
