The one bad thing I have found with the new amps is the cheap wire hookups using an plate and set screw. I just bougth a 605 and my + speaker output was stripped from the get go, so its at Alpine already being repaired before I even got to use it. The 301/501 had much better terminals.

Hey , thanks for the input, I think i'll get a 501, mainly b\c the sub eq. is variable instead of being set a 45 like the 605.thats the only real difference i see in the two.

does anyone have suggestions for any other good mono amp? I need a space saver, so buitl in subsonic filter is good. I like the variable bass boost on the alpine 500 and 501. I kinda looked at diamond audio and kicker, but I've heard kicker isn't what it used to be, jl e 1400??? I want to stay in the $250 range. 400 rms @ 2 ohm minimum, would like closer to 600. I want an amp I can keep for a long time. I have a old school fosgate 100x2 and a 200dsm.....that is the quality of amp I want, long lasting, quality sound, etc.
