Notes:

NOTE:  This vehicle has an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed when adding remote start.   *1 The two driver side door trigger wires are in a 14 pin plug in the driver kick panel. The driver door trigger is gray/red in pin 14, the left rear door is RED / white in pin 13. The two passenger side door trigger wires are in a 14 pin plug in the passenger kick panel. The front passenger door is lt. GREEN/ black in pin 14, and the right rear door is RED / white in pin 5. Use all four and diode isolate each.  *2 The ECM is behind the glove box.  *3 This is the ignition key sense wire. There are 2 YELLOW /GREEN wires in the ignition harness. The correct one is in a 2 pin plug. Using the status output wire from the remote start to ground this wire will disarm the alarm without unlocking the doors.  *4 The BECU (Body ECU) is above the driver kick panel.  *5 To interface with the tailgate window, must runs wires into the tailgate. The up motor wires is pink and the down motor wire is white.

The pink accessory wire is not needed for remote start; the climate controls are powered by the BLACK / YELLOW second ignition wire.

Positive parking lights, as well as brake lights, are easily available in a plug in the driver's kick panel.

Hoodpin:  There are two 26-pin plugs that are VERY far forward and high up in the driver's kick.  The hoodpin is in the lower (gray) of these two plugs.  It shows a partial ground even with the hood closed----cut it in half, and attach two diodes to the "hood" side of the wire.  One diode goes to the other side of the blue/white you just cut; the second diode goes into your remote start.  (Only models with a factory alarm have a hoodswitch.)

Tach:  Forget about pulling down the glove box and going to the ECM.  Above the gas pedal is a cluster of maybe ten plugs--some gray, some black, and some white.  There are several YELLOW /GREENs in there; a few of those wires are tach.  You can also get it at the instrument cluster---either by removing the cluster, or reaching way, way up above the gas pedal, to the back of the cluster, and attaching a T-tap (with your bare fingers---no tools will fit).  Also, I'm not finding the tach above the gas pedal on the 2003s.

Factory alarm disarm:  Just like the DEI sheet says---ground the key sense wire during remote start.

Transponder bypass:  Toyotas are a little fussy about how you place the coil around the key cylinder.  You'll want to tape it to the very front edge, against the flat area where it lights up.  When you install the dash back on, it'll hold the coil there even better.

How to test if the car has a factory alarm:  Close the tailgate and hood.  Then do one of these three things:  1.  Open a door, press Lock on the door, and close it.  2.  Press Lock on the factory remote.  3.  Close all the doors, and then lock them using the key.  ------ The security light in the instrument cluster should come on steady for thirty seconds, and then begin to flash slowly--the system is now armed.  If the security light NEVER comes on steady, but just flashes slowly all the time, you do not have an alarm---the light only serves to warn about the transponder key.
