If you have a HU with sub controls, you don't need the remote bass knob.
Do it right the first time

my headunit has that, but i found that using thier bass knob amplifies 40hz and below more, so i find i get much more output using it.. that is why i wanted to try and make one..

This makes for an interesting question I was about to ask in a new post: is it possible to make or add a sub controller to an amp that doesn't have one from the manufacturer?
Might be a stupid question......

It would be best to just call RF up and order one, or even check flea bay.

You could make a remote level controller but not a bass boost controller. There are modules out there that have a remote boost dial.
