soundmasta you should also ask what kind of competition they have like bb or cc that to will depend on what the can charge with bigger stores have free install on decks over 99 and stuff like that. sometimes you can raise the price of your higher end decks alittle to cover a little of the install. best thing to do is sell add ons like speakers and dynamat etc. etc.

Average install rate for Decks/Amps/Speakers if the equipment is bought from us is $25 Unless mods need to be done ect.   We have one other small shop in town, But we have a partnership, they dont do any custom work so they send alot of work to me.    The only big name Competition is about 30 miles away.    The Pop. is only 2500 when the college is out but about 4 times that when school is in.

We do free installs on all head units (except in dash LCD ect.) if customer buys all equipment from us. I price all head units just below CC,BB,and Crutchfield. I price my install kits high (Metra) like CC,BB does. So If you hustle you can make some money, and still beat there price. Also it is easy to out sell there work, in my area anyways.

I charge about $100 for hooking up simple subs/amp. This includes all wire and fuse...  We get a lot of kids who bring in there own ebay amp and subs and thats about their price. Some say thats high, I say its a bit of work.

The town we are in has a pop.10,000.  9,000 being over the age of 78.  We have BB,CC, and 4 stereo shops w/ in 20 mins.  If it wasnt for the 97 Cavalier and the 98 Neon I would be out of business

we charge about 25 for a hu, 35 for speakers, and we start at 60 for an 8 guage amp install. 2 gauge we charge 120 and we include parts in our price. if somthing reqiries a fair amount of extra work or alot of extra parts we adjust our prices accordingly. we also have a 10% hot chick discount. we have an abc wharehouse in town, and they stay busy, but we do alot of custom stuff and off the wall shhh that they can't. we also do window tint and rims so that helps bring in more business.

I live in NJ and for me to get an amp, HU, and sub hooked up, it cost me $270. Expensive but a good install. Got it installed at Tweeter.

Gawd, you guys are cheap. We get $50 to $75 for a HU depending on the car and whether or not it was bought from me. Amps $90 to $120. Speakers $30 to $60 a pair. BB and CC within 5 mi. Three independents,  town of 45000, area with in 30 mi. 100000.  If you do quality work and you back it up your prices should be on par with anyone else who works on cars,  $50 to $75 per hour.

i agree those prices are pretty fair.. when i do side jobs( great way to make extra cash while at school and not working) i charge $25 for head unites $30-50 for speakers depending upon the car, 50 for amp install, 100 for remote start 120 for alarm. i dont supply any install materials and they must have harnesses so i tell people to buy from crutchfield otherwise go to bb or cc and pick up the parts or i will get the parts and charge them the cost of the parts. obviously crimp caps electrical tape and the minimal stuff is incldued in my prices.. no damn $5 materials fee.. thats were bb makes all their money.. oh and charging 50 for a 15 min h/u install
