if im going to make a ported box for two subs and the specs for one of them is 1.5 cubic ft and a port 8 inches long with a 3 inch round opening, would i just double the airspace and and the size of the opeing on the port and leave the port length the same---> 3 cubic ft and a 6 inch round port 8 inches long? or is their more to it than that?

You shouldn't do it that way. You would be better off building one large box with two chambers inside it that each have 1.5 cubic feet of space and a 8 inch long, 3 inch diameter port.

One port in each chamber. Do not combine the encosure volume. This of course is also provided that the subs are identical as well.
