sorry, this has probably been answered before, but here goes: can i wire led's in paralel? how many? do i use one resistor for each or one for the whole thing? also, can i hook them up to my undercar neon switch or do i need a special switch for them? and last, how can i tell the positive from the negative side of the led? thanks very much lads, all the best.

the positive is the longer side of the LED. i wouldnt run to many off the underbody switch because it has its own fuse and that might end up blowing from too much load.

Yes, you can run LEDs in parallel. You want them all to have the same current & voltage ratings. Add up the currents and calculate the resistor for that current and remaining voltage
3 LEDs 2V@ 25mA = 75mA
13-2 = 11 volts
R=E/I
R=11/.075
R~150 Ohms
You can wire each with its own resistor also, which in this example would be about 450 Ohms
You can also wire them in series, in which you would add the voltage drops instead of the current
same LEDs
13-(2+2+2) = 7V
R=E/I
R=7/.025
R=280 Ohms
LEDs use so little current I would not be concerned about adding them onto an existing circuit
