hehe   here is the one I love.....My 15 inch super blue's handle 1000 watts....it says it right on the speaker...but my 800 watt pyramid blew them up       why?

no one seams to understand distortion levels....

i used to have fun when I would have people ask me about my system in my work truck....an 84 dodge that you can see through the passenger floor. I had (2) 10 inch Type E alpine subs with a alpine MRV 100m   the amp is only 50x2    but my system was known to out do people with there 15 inch super blues and their legacy amps...

Here's another funny myth.

The customer is entitled to have the shop diagnose and fix any type of install they or their boyz were not able to do properly, at no cost to them, because the fuse that the shop sold them blew.

Here's one to go with the 150,000 w/p/c amps and the quadrillion watt subs- writing "Competition" or some such nonsense on a piece makes it so!
And, another in the same vein- magnet size(weight) equals SPL ability.
And, I'm with ya on that whole radio power thing, Snoman! I love the look I get when I tell people that a higher priced unit actually, horrors!, has NO power!
Ah, what-ho; it's all marketing anyways and flashy colors and a big pair o' *&#s in the ad are all it takes... Common car audio myths - Page 2 -- posted image.

Common car audio myths - Page 2 -- posted image.A comment on the young installers, I think they lack the needed common sense when it comes to installing headunits/amps. A so called experienced installer bolted my amps down to my floor board under my rear seat in my ford explorer, wich I thought was cool. But my door locks wouldn't work. After I checked all the possible fuses in my vehicle, ran wires straight from the battery to the driver side door lock, I realized then that this was caused by the amps being bolted down to the floor. The installer screwed the amps down into the wireing harness that runs under the rear seat. Easy fix right, just remove and place the amps to the right or left to miss the wireing harness. So why coundn't the installer repair this before I figured it out.

I know a guy who was a manager at a shop, and in one of his final installs he put a mobile video console between the front seats in a Chrysler T&C minivan, and one of the screws went through the main body wiring harness - fried the BCM, the radio, and a couple other things.

I think that someone used the term profit seeking scum which even if I did know what I was talking like some of these "Professionals" I would not be quick to take that tag.  We all know what the individual was talking about.  You know the ones.  The guy who takes advantage of a consumer who has chosen a different career and relies on the so call "Professionals" because he is under the misconception that as "Professional" in the car audio store is a Car Audio Professional and not the Sales Professional that they actually are.  You see a craftsman in and trade is knowledgable and honest.  So when that poor sap, such as myself, goes into a store to ask a "Professional" ask car audio question he thinks that he is talking to a "Car Audio Professional" and not a "Sales Professional" aka "Profit seeking scum".  There for before I took that tag I would ask myself which of the two I was, but by all means be proud of what you are.  If that is a craftsman in the field of hustling people out of there hard earned money, then by all means hold you head high and say "What can I do to help me" next time you great that customer at the door.  ; )

Hehe, I had a friend that bolted his amp down in the trunk of his Neon. Well he drilled the bolt straight through the gas tank and had gas leaking all over his carpet and inside the car.

Also, why do so many people think that the bigger the magnet is, the louder the sub will be?

No offense, BUT, who would get work done at Circuit City? That's like going to Jiffy Lube for an oil change.

Charging $35 for Installing a $35 wallyworld CD into their $35 ford escort.

Does not mean that I am going to hunt down all your other electrical problems.

And yes that extra noise you hear when the engine is running that comes through your $35 CD stereo is a design fault of your stereo, the company that sold it and the people that shop there.

Remember  if its from Wallymart it will fall apart.
