Well I guess I will chime in here.   First car was a 91 Grand AM.
Pioneer Head unit, no idea what model but it is probably laying around somewhere in storage haha. Internals out of a caddy, dont ask they sounded good in that car, so I thought they sounded good in my car.
Boss audio Amp, If I remember right it was rated at 500x2 but it probably did more around 100x2 now that I know a little.
Now for the Subs, I actually started off half way decent, I had a set of 12 inch kicker gold's, these were old even in 1998! but hey I got them for $50 and I was ready to rock!

my first system was in my 1971 Ford F100. i had a jvc(low end $99 radio), an orion 4ch amp bridged to two radio shack pro series 10's, and a set of wal-mart 6x9's stuck to the corners right above my seat. the truck had a gas tank behind the seat, so i had the woofers as a center console.

My first and current system is in my '97 Honda Civic.

I have 6 1/2" infinity's in the front door panels, 5 1/4" Momo's in the rear, 2 10" pioneer subs, Pioneer 1500 watt amp, some other amp, and a Sony CD player. it sounds pretty good I think. The whole thing cost me about $750.
