Well, I just ordered DEI 561R RS and DEI 555l bypass.   I hope this fixes my problem.

It shouldn't go into tamper mode with the 555l sending the same correct code everytime right?

Thanks for your help

Joe

Jeez.... wish I would have seen this sooner....
Okay. You could use the 555L to permanently bypass the passlock system. The 555L learns constantly, but once it learns the car once,it is generally good to go. To wire it up without worrying about any switches to flip or anything:
red- 12V constant
pink- ignition
Black- Passlock Ground
BLACK / YELLOW- Passlock resistance car side
Yellow- PL Key side
Blue/black- Take it to the light green keysense wire. It will turn the 555L on as soon as a key is inserted.
Of course, you COULD always actually take the car to the stealership and get the problem corrected properly. Probably the key cylnder, and it will probably be covered under a warranty or one of GM's little "secret recall" campaign. (We won't send out any letters, but we will sit on it until we get too many customer problems, and then fix them) There has been a lot of key cylnder problems in these parts lately, and they have been getting covered. You could also search your car on a TSB site like ALLData.com to give yourself some ammunition by actually knowing which TSB # applies to your problem.... they like that.... they are usually more interested in taking your money than looking at their service bulletins to see if it is covered....

and that's it, I will not have this passlock problem anymore after this fix?

I'm going to check for TSBs now

Thanks!

well    alldata.com cost 25 bucks so that's out.  I got an email from the place where I ordered the DEIs from shortly after I made the order and they said I needed a few more parts to make the door locks and trunck work so I cancelled the order all together until I got my shhh together, glad I did if all I need is a DEI 555l.......if that's the case?

I found it no problemo.... for free.....
Try here:
Like I said..... PLII problems are more common than you may think. Pile of bulletins on that car (I just picked a 2001 3.4L off hand, but you will get the drift) There is one for intermittant no crank/no start.... seems to fit the bill. If you can get it fixed properly under warranty, then why not?
Ah, and just for fun:
My own car
I ran my own car for comparison.....

Do you have subscriptions and are already logged in? Because when I try clicking on the service bulletins, they want 24.95 to view them. Maybe that's what Joe was reffering to.

No subscription.... you can look up the entire listing on any make/model/year for free.... $25 gets you the detailed buletins themselves. Armed with the actual bulletin number, you can head into the dealer, and give them the number as a nice surprise when they hand you a bill.

heck all that talk about different keys and the keys don't matter at all in the Passlock 2 system and Passlock 1 for that matter

the resistors for the Passlock system are built into the ign. switch and not the key on these particular systems

you can cut any key you want and it doesn't matter one bit so..................

as far as your problem I would go to a dealer and get it diagnosed b/c it's either the ign. switch /wiring to and from/ or the PCM

you may not like this but the bypass is not a good idea b/c especially if you're not familiar(i'm not saying you're not but i'm just assuming) w/ remote starts and stuff of that nature you're just asking for more trouble in the future

hope this steers you in the right direction

thanx
