Looks like an alien spaceship of some kind to me... I think we'll need a little more explaination before making any assumptions. There arent a whole lot of mechanics on the board if thats what you're looking for, but feel free to ask away.
A few things that would be helpful... Car year, model, make, engine size/type as well. My best bet would be to find a Forum specific to that car, there are those forums everywhere. Also you probably know more than 95% of the people here if you can take the head of on your own.

My hands look like that too..

take a better picture of the object...closeup and all sides if you can. Is it solid, hollow, round, squared off?...

It's stuck in an intake valve.. no real surprise there. does it look like an engine fastener?

Cant really tell what it is by the picture, but it could be any part that comes after the filter element. Check the valvetrain and see if any thing looks out of place. Make sure all of the parts are identical. If it isn't something that sheared off in the valvetrain, check the intake system to see if anything is loose or out of order. Next chech the fuel injection system to see if any parts have fallen off. If you cant find the problem there, take the part to a mechanic, or tow the car to one.

Check everything and use some common sense when checking it. If it looks broke, theres a good chance that it is.

Good Luck.

What is the engine? Anything loose on the intake side of things? End of some sort of sensor? Need more info.

Wow, I thought this thread dissappeared for for a day or 2. It is a 95 honda Civic Si. The engine is a d16z6. As soon as I get back over to where the car is I will take pictures with my camera instead of my gf's stupid camera phone.
As far as car forums, This is on two of the other more technical related forums. I skipped HT purposely.
Last time a mechanic touched it was 6 months ago for clutch and 9 months for timing belt and waterpump.

Hey, I asked my dad, and he said that it looks like the end off of the push rod. which makes sense to me as the push rod is right about the valve. if that helps or not?

Looks like the plastic eye off a stuffed animal to me.  If it was under a valve as the first two images seem to show, check to make sure your G/F didn't cram a teddy bear into the air intake thinking it would make a good filter.  What is this? -- posted image.
