The four 12s are louder because they have alot more cone area than the two 10s and are more effecient probobly. It's all about displacement and efficiency.

All I know is i got a 15" MTX RoadThunder sub and it suits my needs and exceeds them!4 MTX Thunder 7500 12's or 2 Thunder 9500 10's? - Page 2 -- posted image.
