Hello All,

I just bought a new Ford F150 and the doors lock when you start driving, but when you stop they do not unlock. This is annoying to me since I am used to my GMC unlocking all the doors. I saw the diagram of a relay for this here https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#aul but I am confused when looking at the relay wiring diagram. I am pretty savy when it comes to electronics and relay's am I missing something cause there is a positive on both sides of the coil? I went and bought the stuff to make it and it does nothing. If I wire it like the relay on page https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#ctm then it does the opposite of what I need. As you all know I need the relay to pulse when the ignition is shut off.

Can anyone can help me with this Please....

Thanks

The https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#aul is shown for an ignition switch wire that goes to ground when the ignition switch is turned off.  Relay terminal 85 doesn't ever see 12v from the ignition switch wire because the diode, as shown, is blocking the 12v supply when the switch is on.  When the ignition is turned off, this wire goes to ground and the relay coil is activated, pulsing the required ground thru terminals 30 and 87.

The link below has some helpful wiring info on the 2005 F150

The drawing says ignition 12vdc(+) where does the ground come in? Anyway the Ford F150 has a postive when turned on, do you know of another way to accomplish this?

Try adding a 2nd relay.  On the 2nd relay wire up:

Pin 85 - Ignition (will energize whenever ignition is on)

Pin 86 - Ground ]

Pin 30 - 12dc Ignition signal on the diagram you are using

Pin 87 - Not used

Pin 87A - Ground

With this setup when you turn the vehicle on it will remove the ground from the circuit that allows the relay to pulse.  Once you shut the car off the 2nd relay will drop out, giving the first relay its ground back.

Most ignition systems will rest at ground when the key isn't in, this should probably be noted on the diagram!

Ford does not offer the auto unlock option only Chevy. You can only turn off the auto lock there is no auto unlock.
