You should need to use a OnStar module or a chime module but never heard of one not starting after pulling radio. You might check to see if you popped any fuses.

Make sure that the OEM stereo isn't necassary for the vehicle to start.  Cars these days are integrading everything into the OEM headunit.

For instance, the 04'+ Ford Taurus has the airbag wiring going though the OEM headunit, so you have to hide the guts of the OEM stero inside the dash somewhere if you want to go with an aftermarket headunit.

My car has the digital climate control issue that would have to be custom fabricated back into the dash some way.  2006 Corvette -- posted image.

Back track and re-install the OEM HU and see if the Vette starts. If it doesn, then you've found your problem. If not, then you can start looking elsewhere. Post your results.

You didn't mess with the ignition wire harness did you ? Sounds like the Passlock system. So it cranks but it doesn't run..... right ?

Sounds like the Passlock system to me, but not sure why taht would go on you if you replace the HU. Possibly when you unplugged the OEM HU ( I'm guesing you had to do this ) this would have set off the anti theft ?? Just shooting in the dark here.
