im sure its a simple question, but how do you add horn honk or exterior siren to a hands free kit so you can tell the phone is ringing.

WOW.........I havent had someone ask me that question in years!...That feature went out with 3 watt analog phones..........I dont know if the ground ouput from most handsfree car kits is strong enough to honk the horn.

Use a SPDT relay,a flasher relay, and a toggle switch. Wire the audio mute to 85. +12 volts through the switch to 86. wire either +12 or ground(depending upon the trigger for the horn, or if you go direct to the horn+12V) to 87. From 30 to the flasher relay and on to the horn trigger or direct to the horn(prefered)
Hope this helps

BTW, the switch is there so you can shut down the horn while your on the phone. This is a band aid fix, for you must turn it off while you drive(you could use another relay to make it work only with the car off) and it must be manually reset after each use.

Try ESI Supply in Midland Texas, they have a unit called the SmoothHonker, phone number is 1-432-520-5374.
