That is the message board of the guy who wrote the article. Pretty funny response from a Car Audio store owner at the bottom.

Ordinary car stereos generate as much as 600 watts of sound and I thought that was plenty. But at car shows, some people want at least 10 times that.
Bullshhh

Some of the car audio systems generate 170 decibels of sound, equivalent to the noise of a jet plane taking off 25 feet in the distance. What's the appeal? Drivers told us it's a hobby just like arts and crafts.
Now how many people realisticaly drive a car with a stereo that hits 170??? Bullshhh.

Sony told us the advertisement was tongue in cheek, and they may change the tone. But other companies have run ads saying their products will "shake the living, wake the dead," and "annoy neighbors."
Now we know the article is crap, they mentioned Sony. hehehe

Damn old people. Well on the flip side I guess it is alright to watch video while driving as long as you can't be heard?

My question..... is someone's right to no noise greater than someone's right to make noise? If noise is the issue then when I work the late shift and come home to sllep during the day, my neighbour should not be allowed to mow his lawn or chop his firewood as I should not be allowed to play loud music. If loud music is the issue, that is discrimination.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Wow im in shock after reading through that thread..
George Carlin has it right lots of people need to die
Sad shape our society is in when people have more passion for noise polution verses more pressing issue

"Solutions
Do not approach or attempt to reason with motorists in boom cars. Most of them are belligerent. When possible, take down their license plate number and call the police. In communities where the police pull over boom cars, often they find alcohol, drugs and sometimes weapons in the vehicle. In a few cases, drivers have outstanding warrants for their arrest. "
