hey

i have a viper 790xv alarm with the 1-way 472 remotes.  2 days ago everything was working perfectly but the light on the remote seemed to get dimmer and dimmer.  After a bit longer the remote totally stopped working over night.   I changed the battery and still no response from the brain.  I also tried reprogramming it to the brain and still nothing.  i then unplugged all the wires from the unit for about an hour and plugged everything back up.  Still no response from the unit.  What else could solve this problem?  could the remote be out of sync with the brain or something because i believe the code hopping was active.  also what battery goes in the remote?  it had a 2032 in it so i replaced it with another 2032.  is this the correct battery because i have known people to confuse 2032 batteries with 2025 because they are the same size.

take the white wire w/ blue stripe and tap it to ground, this should cause the remote start to engage. see if this works

i do not have a second remote or a bit writer.  i tried reprogramming it on multiple occasions.  what did it mean when it remote started when i tapped the wire to a ground?  i was trying to avoid buying another $100 remote.  is there any other way i would be able to get it working again?

I was making sure the unit wasn't dead, the wire just showed that the unit still works. I would have to say the remote is not working, help me out here. i am a python dealer, you have a viper which is the same but the part numbers are different, is this not a 2 way piece or is it?

if it is the 4 button 1 way then the remotes are only about $25, Most DEI dealers can warranty them if they are not being p***ks. DEI says there  is only a 1 year warranty on their remotes but I have never seen them enforce it. the 2 way is $75 dealer cost but I have always gotten them warrantied!!
