i got a directed 2400D amp 1200 1 ohm  800 2 ohm 400 4 ohm. i got 3 compvr kickers there 400rms/800each thats a total of 1200rms. im running them at  2ohm with that amp so its 800 watts and i have the gain all the way up. so if you divid 800/3 it will be 266.67 watts per sub . and when i put in some CDS i have at high volumes my subs will pop like to much power is goign to them . and why woudl that happen if its no where close to 400 watts to a sub kinda confusing to me? would it be disturtion? and why woudl that happen out of no where. i ahve had this for 8 months and just 3 weeks now it has happened i had to turn down my bass level on the amp. any advice or suggestions in why this would happen?

So you had the gain cranked full tilt [THE GAIN IS NOT THE VOLUME] and, AND some bass boost device on?

well I can't really think of any problems now, but I will let you know if I think of anything. Maybe you need two more amps???

I think dwarren's right. I think a couple more amps and a few caps for each amp should solve the problem.
I'd try that first. Then, if the amps and caps don't seem to fix the problem for whatever reason, I guess you could try doing a search on here for "setting gains" and maybe read up a little about that.

...Alright, enough of being an ass about it.
Read what DYohn says about setting gains here, and follow his instructions. That should solve your problem.

And if properly setting your gain and turning off the bass boost doesn't fix the problem, you probably need more chrome.  why does my sub pop at high vol -- posted image.

ok and what is that?. anyways i had my system hooked up by audio store they said they turned the gain up higher to push alittle more . so whne i do turn it up it will put out more. he said its probably cause there under powered and i will need to either run it at 1ohm or get a amp that pushes 1200 at 2 ohms or just get another amp. but still no one knows the real reason why my subs are popin at high volumes. i think the amp is more power than it says sense he did put the gain all the way up. so im like confused an dim tired of goign to places and all they do is give me the runa round and just try to make me spend money insted of telling me the problem.

SET THE GAIN PROPERLY
Like I said earlier, do what DYohn says here, and that'll solve your problem.

Wow, where do you live and what store told you that?  Whoever it is needs to be fired and called out as a source of mis-information.  The real reason is amplifier clipping and/or woofer overdriving.

Ignore that idiot and either set your gain properly yourself or go to a reputable shop and have it done.  Yes, it will cost you a few bucks but you will not destroy your speakers.  If you continue operating like you are, you will.  And soon.

Steven's photo is of a subwoofer voice coil that has been destroyed.  I hope it's not his Brahma...  why does my sub pop at high vol -- posted image.
