Question: WHy arn't car amplifiers designed to automatically turn on when a signal is present? I know that almost every home amp(made late 90s and above) have an auto on feature that turns them on and off with just the RCA signal.
So basically I'm wondering why don't mobile amp manufactures impliment this feature into their amps? It wouldn't make that much of a difference sinse you only have to run one more wire normally, but it'd be a nice feature to have.

It makes the amps more expensive to build.

Jl's slash series amps have a selectable 12 volt or signal turn on. On very rare occasions I've had the amp shut off when the volume was turned way down in the signal turn on mode.
There is no such thing as free installation!

Just to frustrate YOU and create an argument  for YOU.

But that is a good question. It sure would make life a lot easier.

some JBL and MTX amps have a smart engage system but it only works if you use the high level inputs not with the RCAs...
