No, you will need ignition and then the starter has to crank in order to start the car. It's a bit more than that, but I am sure you get the idea.

I have a clifford alarm so what i'll do is kill the starter,and get the wireless immobilizer..Which to kill, starter or ignition? - Page 2 -- posted image.
