I’m having problems with my CS-2001 being able to accept a remote programming.  I turn the IGN on / off 3 times and do not get the single chirp to signify that I can go ahead with the programming.  Also, I can’t set the valet mode by turning on the IGN and holding the override button for 5-10 seconds.

This sounds like an issue with the +12VDC IGN wire (yellow) going to the 2001 Module, but I have checked that wire multiple times and the +12VDC is there and it is switched with the IGN.

The valet / override button is also working b/c I can turn on the ignition, hit the button 5 times and get the extended chirp from the siren to set the electronically programmable options.

Is there some kind of master reset I can perform on this unit to clear all remotes and enable me to reprogram them in, potentially resetting any issues with the unit?  I’m at a loss as to what else it could be.

I should also add, the one remote that is already programmed works fine with the system, I just can't program the other remote back to this unit (it came with this unit but was programmed to a different CS-2001).

Thanks,

Tom

Where did you test the 12 volt switch from ? Make sure you test it at the harness connector by the RS CPU and not at the connection. I've had instances where there was some residue on my connection and it didn't make contact to the ignition wire.

Jeff,

I tested it in both spots, and both appear fine.  Also my LED (valet / status) is ON when the ignition is OFF and the LED is OFF when the ignition is ON.

Any other ideas?

Check to make sure that it is also registering you doorpin being open.  I had the same problem and it took me forever to figure out that the domelight was overridden to the off position.

I can check the door pin, however the alarm does go off when the door is opened and it is armed.

This is in a '94 Chevy Camero if that makes any difference.

tloftus82; Do you have the manual with this cs system? In my 2016 it shows how to program a second remote on the system. Probably a similar feature for yours. The tech sup number for them is (800)998-6880 8-4 pacific. They helped me pretty quickly.

I have the manual and I follow the instructions explicitly.  I also have a 2016 (in a different vehicle) and the programming instructions are a little different.  In the 2001 it says to turn the IGN on and off 3 times (on / off / on / off / leave on) and you should get a chirp (I get no chirp).  Then hold the valet button for about 5 seconds and you should get 3 more chirps (also don't get) then to hold down button 1 of the remote you want to program until the LED goes off on the dash.

Am I missing something?  :)

Thanks for all the responses.

When you verified the ignition wire has 12 volts on key turn did you make sure that it wasn't 12 + on key sense?

In the 2001fc manual there is a restore factory defaults procedure could be the same didn't notice it in the 2001 manual though.  It says

1. Turn the Ignition ON and press the Override/Program button 5 times. You should hear a long confirmation chirp.

then press button #3 (Trunk). The siren will chirp 4 times and lights will flash 4 times. Turn OFF Ignition. Allprogramming options should be restored to “*” values (See chart above).

Also says that only three remotes can be programmed to the system , could it be possible you have three remotes already or it has three registered from previous tries.

It mentions cycling the ignition two and a half times as you stated above did you try slower cycling so it is registered each time or even removing the key each time??

Cheers

I'm not familiar with the keysense in these newer GM's (well, newer than my '93 cutlass, anyway, which has no keysense).  I will double check the wire again, but I won't have a chance until next week.  What you're saying though, is make sure the wire has 12V when the key is on and that the 12 volts goes away when the key is just turned off (not removed or anything like that).  I can do that.

Thanks for the instruction on the reset, I will try it on my 2001 and see if I have any luck.  I could have 3 remotes programmed already, but shouldn't I be overwriting the programed ones yet?  That's why I'm trying to clear them out so I can program the one (working) remote into the system, but that's what it seems like is that 3 have already been programmed and it's not letting me do any more.. but I can't figure out how to clear the previously programmed remotes.

I will try that procedure for resetting programming - do you know how to clear the remotes from memory?

Thanks again, you've been a lot of help on this issue.

Tom
