No I don't think so, not for a sec. or to when cranking, but what a mess if the relay failed when you were hard on the gas passing that semi.
I don't see how it will slow down a car thief though, like he gives a shhh if the engine blows.
It would slow him down more if the relay was on the fuel pump power wire, or the ECU wire controling the fuel pump relay, or the power wire for the ECU among a lot of others, that keep the car from starting at all.
