Have you checked if the unit has a diagnostic mode, and if over-rev is the reason for shutdown?

Does anyone know if you can change the Compustar crack time without the Compustar programer? Just by using the LCD remote, I know for a fact that you can change some options but not sure which ones. Anyone know where to get their hands on the programming manual.

I have never use alt sensing on the compustar, i would assume it is there for a reason, maybe that would help with your cold weather problem.  Just a shot in the dark on it.

I have two questions;
One is I found something in the user guide, it tells you to press (I+II)- for 2 sec Programming Menu 1 and (I+III)- for 2 sec Programming Menu 2. Does anyone know where to go from here?
The second is;
Also on the CM3000M there is Dip switch
1. off=alt, on=tach
2. off=remote start for 15min
   on=remote start for 25min
If I turn the tach to off on the first switch, what do I connect the yellow/black wire (alt/tach sensing input)?
