Compustar CM-3000-V2 starter problem

ok its in a 97 huyndai elantra. half the time the starter just doesnt 'start'. the ignition comes on but nothing else happens. then other times it will start to crank but wont fire up the engine and other times it starts just fine.....
can anyone suggest where to look?

All of your wiring connections concerning the ignition and the starter circuit. Check the starter bypass relay as well.. Sounds like a poor connection issue..

If you used connectors then cut them all out and use solder and tape. If you used solder and tape, ensure that there's isn't a cold solder and then move onto the starter disable relay as suggested by metaverse.

how about if the car starts when the engine is warm and wont start on the cold engine?
