While we're on this topic: If you have a 75amp alt. stock, and you upgrade to a 175amp alt., would that put you in danger of frying the stock charging harness and causing a fire?

Ya and its really really hard to find any thing for an 84 RX7. I have seen Iraggi Alts but I dont think he has any thing for an RX7. I need to find out what else will fit my car and go from there. Most mazda alts are the same but better to be safe than sorry.

i just recieved my iraggi alt today after waiting 3 wks for it and they sent the wrong one.. and now i'll have to wait for a week for him to respond to my email.. i wouldn't buy from him personnally i tried to save a lil money by buying from him and i should have just went with this company i found.. www.alternatorparts.com  they might have somehting for an RX 7 if they don't have anything posted.. i would call cause they guy that runs the place is very helpful!!!!!

if you upgrade from a 75amp to a 175amp you will need to upgrade ur alternator lead wire... that is the only thing to worry about "frying" as the car pulls its power through the battery and it will only draw the needed current leaving the rest of the current to run your audio stuff

I'm not sure that is something you would wire only to the wiring harness. I wired my HO alt to the car with 4-gauge grounding it and running directly to the battery... I still connected my wiring harness but I imagine after all the 4-gauge it will see the harness as a higher resistance circuit anyway..

Tell us the fuse ratings of your amps- that way we know the max current draw.

That sounds like those are the fuses on your power line.  What size fuses are recommended for these amps, or do they have fuses on the outside- this should be in your manual for them.

it says that it requires 150 amp external fuse. thats inline right? there is no place on the amp for fuses. it is working though.   with 150 amp fuses at the battery end and the amp end of the power wire.

Okay, then, you want an alt that can support that kind of demand, along with your other accessories- maybe 200a.
