There are two other places that you can grab the unlock & lock wires for the 2002 Diamante. You will need to go to the ECM high on the driver's kick panel (-) trigger wires. The colors are:

  • LOCK : RED
  • UNLOCK : RED / GREEN

Other than this you will have to go into the driver's door for the wires.

Try moving the key around & also the ring on the cylinder. Another thing to test is try putting the key in the cylinder but do not turn it over and try to remote start the car. If it does, then you know it's just the placement of the key in the module or the ring placement.

Figured it out. when I swapped the rings I forgot to plug the OEM harness back in. So nothing was starting, not even with the regular key. I thought I had put it into the security shutdown that only the dealer could fix. Then I remembered that I hadn't plugged that harness back in and it started right up after that. Silly mistake but I was a bit worried for a while. Any way if that ever happened that it locked up like that. Is there any way to reset the computer without having to take it to the dealer?

Try to o'l remove the ground from the battery trick for about 30 minutes. Other than that you probably need the scan tool to remove the error from the CPU.
