whenever i buy an amp i always look at the fuses first becuse say that a pyle 2400 watt amp has one 25 amp fuse, then you obviously kno that it is not putting out what it says, but then you look at a hifoniks amp and they have a 80 amp bus fuse in them and you kno that it is going to be a much better amp

the new directed amps look nice!  but their most powerful mono amp is only 400w @ 4ohms.  If took my sub down to 1ohm they would work, but other than that I wouldnt be giving them adequate power.  Unless infact they are under rated.  Too bad the D2400 is about as much as the JBL GTO601.1

Anyone have other suggestions?  I appreciate all of the input thus far!

I install these amps all the time and i personally like them, these guys are just biased twords audiobahn(I don't blam then there speakers suck). Anyway there tough as hell and i have yet to kill one. If you do get one get one from an authorized dealer that way you got the warranty.

The problem is that I cant afford half of these amps retail.  If buying online maybe it is better to get something more reliable

Since you said that your sub is 450wrms then that JBL amp would be a good match. I personally like the JBL amps over the Hifonics. I don't think Hifonics amps are competitive gear, but I'm not saying they're a piece of crap. I own the GTO 1201.1 II amp and I couldn't be happier with it. Plus, I love how the JBL amps look. On mine, the cover is see through and you can add neon tubes to put inside to make it look cooler. (There's a little bracket inside to hold the neon). Just something cool I guess.

Like I said, if it were me I'd get the JBL amp, you'd be very pleased with it, even if you have to save up some money if you don't have enough. But if you have enough for the Hifonics and don't want to save more, then I'd say go for it. Just make sure you match up the wattage of the sub. around 400-500wrms x1 @ 4ohms, or 1ohm if you want to run it that way.

The GTO601.1 is 424x1 @ 4ohms.  Think that is close enough?
