I was reading what you posted and I don't know if i'm the first to notice but you have the tach wire on the wrong place. It should go on the ignition coil not the alternator.

Thanks bdl666 - I edited the post (I actually connected it at the coil - not the alternator)

Thanks Jeff. OK, I think I understand now although I'm a little confused about 86. As far as I'm aware (from my remote starter documentation), the IGN wire coming FROM my RS brain supplies 12v+ when the starter is initialized with the remote. Would this change the pinouts as follows:

  • 85: IGN wire from RS (12v + when intialized by remote)
  • 86: Ground
  • 30: to IGN #2 on vehicle
  • 87: 12v constant FUSED @ 20 AMPS
  • 87a not used

Thanks, smik

The way you have this would be OK too, but you will have this relay active all the time ( or whenever you turn the ignition over ), where as my relay configuration is on only when remote started

Ok thanks (I'm gonna hook it up as per your instructions)!

Just for my understanding though, how is pin 86 going to "ground out" when it's going to be attached to a wire that is supplying 12v + when the remote starter is intialized (IGN wire from RS brain)?  I have a hard time understanding that would work - that's why I suggested the alternative configuration.

TIA, smik
