I'm having these same problems with a 2005 Grand Prix. I'm using a DEI 556uw module with the key sense wire hooked up. The module is cutting off when the key is inserted, but on occasion, the customer is still getting a theft system light.

The car is returning tomorrow for another shot at the problem.. Anybody no how to correct  this one, I have been over the wiring in this car quite a few times switched out brain and bypass, nothing fixed it yet.

I talked to Mike (bypasskit.com) about this problem. He suggested taking a look at the interface again. Make sure the interface is not getting 12v constant. It should be on ignition.

Someone on here suggested running a new wire to loop around but thinner like phone line thin.

I'll add a relay to the keysense and wire the bypass off ignition today. I'll post results in a couple of days..

Thanx for the help,  hopefully this fixes it = happy custyAutostart, 05 Grand Prix - Page 2 -- posted image.

I added relay to keysense, tested it worked. Moved jumper to 2nd position lower signal broadcast. tested 10-11 times even left the key in when remote starting worked good. Customer called me today (unhappy) error came back. Question is this does this have to cleared now that I've made these changes, by the dealer? I read the post about cycling the ignition 7 x's. did that. Any help will be greatly appreciated? I have installed over dozen remote starts in the newer g.p's, no problems like this.

You have a scanner? If so you should be able to get the codes out. I think they were in the BCM. You can clear it also from there. If not then try disconnecting the battery.

You hooked the interface up to GWR and ign. output from the remote start?

I don't have a scanner. I hooked red wire to ign. 2 output and ground out when running is hooked up. Dei tech called back while typing, said to tie ground out when running into keysense and to diode isolate it? Also said transponder ring was in the wrong place needs to be glued to factory ring. That is where the ring is now, always been there.  I'll try disconnecting battery though. Have you heard of this advice dei gave about tieing in keysense and ground out when running??

I have not heard of that. As a matter of fact I talked to Mike today and it came up again. He said so far everyone he has talked to has changed the wires to 12v igntion and GWR outputs from the unit. He said nobody has called him back saying it still was doing it.

In the ones I have done the wire is looped around the cylinder just behind the plastic ring about 4-6 times.  I have 1 (the one so far to come back) that has an autostart in it and the 2 others have omega systems in it with pku-gm interfaces for all.  The one with issues has been in for a year  almost.  The 2 others just within a few months.

I think next week I am going to get the one back in to take another look at it and see about changing it if I see something. Also when it is here I will be talking with Mike and trying a few things out.  If you have questions call him 1-888-745-6449 tech support and ask for Mike.  Tell him you were talking with Kenny about this. He will know.

Let me know if those ideas worked or not.  All they are talking about is that your basicly making it think there is a key in it when there isnt. But many people here tried powering the keysense with nothing changing.  Same with the Uplanders.

I had the grand prix come in last night spent some time on it. Diode isolated ground, keysense and gwr.  I tried to set the sts light off for about an hour. I had the codes reset before she brought the car in, without using the remote start until i worked on it some more. This problem sure fueled up the dealership on their theory of remote starters and installers being evil.  Autostart, 05 Grand Prix - Page 2 -- posted image.

That's funy cause I used the 12 volt constant on the RED wire and I used the telephone line and wrapped it about 10 times and the GP hasn't had any problems with no starts or error codes. IMO, your best off trying to get more loops around the ignition cylinder to see if you can induce more of a signal around the cylinder.
