Blackwidow alarm

I am curious if it is a common practice to connect an alarm to a PCM?  My PCM just got replaced and the mechanic said he noticed the alarm was connected to the PCM and this might have made it go bad.  I have had the same alarm since I got the car.  I was thinking when an auto parts store reverse polarized my battery (september 2005) and smoked my alternator and many fuses it cooked my PCM just enough to let it work for a short time.  Then there is the aftermarket 180 amp alternator?  I have a 2003 pontiac vibe (just incase you didn't catch it in the screen name) and a black widow alarm. art

It probably wouldn't matter if the Alarm was connected at the PCM, BCM or the Factory wires in another location on the Vehicle...........I have come to the conclusion that, when a mechanic sees anything that is NOT Factory, the fault will start there.Black Widow, ( although I do NOT sell thier products ) is a Good to Medium Line...............Unless there was a obvious miswiring or the Unit is Faulty, I would cast some doubt in what the mechanic saidMO

yes they would have messed it up in the long term. i wor k for a car dealership and what mo says is right.. as soon as mechanic see's extra wiring in a car they are working on that has an aukward fault. they see it as there scape goat to either get the car out of the workshop or to get the job done outside warrantyWhy oh Why didn't i take the blue pill
