Just so you can hear something funny.
i hooked one up to a vehicles unlock wire set on 2 pulses.. heh
funny thing was when the car shut down, the doors would unlock double pulsing (thats how i set the unit) then that would trigger the remote start to start it back up.
did this kinda as a joke to one of the guys we work with.
he couldn't turn his car off for quite some time in the parking lot.
everytime.. he'd turn it off with the brake
car would shut down
doors would unlock
car would start up =)
shoulda seen his face.

I usually set it for 3 lock pulses. Don't have to worry about someone jumping in the car and trying to steal stuff. They may not be able to drive off but they can steal anything that isn't bolted down...CD's and what not. Just so you know, most newer vehicles disable the keyless entry remotes when the engine is running. So you may have to modify the wiring of the vehicle by disabling the ignition sense wire. I prefer installing aftermarket units because of the vastly improved range but some folks want that factory stealth look so they get the add-on.
