You don't have to wire your parking brake at the parking brake handle. If you have DRL (daytime running light, popular in Canada) which turn on your low-beam when you floor the e-brake handle, you can find the DRL relay module (somewhere under the dash) and wire from there. If you don't have DRL but you have e-brake indicator in the intrument panel, you can find the wire that goes into the instrument panel and wire from there.

If you cannot find the relay, find the e-brake wire color code and then find wire(s) under the dash that match the same color code and probe these wires. You need to turn your key to "Run" position when probing. If a wire shows 12V (or 0V) when the brake handle is released, that's the wire.
