braddman,

your speed pulse is only there to take over the duties of the GPS antenna when you don't have a signal.  Of course it's also there to send the pulse to the speedometer on the N1.  As far as we know it has nothing to do with the video lock-out.  That job is left to the GPS gyroscope.

john555,

AVIC-N2 lockout bypass:  Underneath the MAIN unit (not the hideaway) is a small silver sticker, peel this back.  There are two contacts with the label "R197".  Drop a bit of solder between these to connect them. Also, you must ground the Parking Brake wire.  This will let you watch DVDs and use Nav functions while in motion.  It will void your warranty if you purchased it from an authorized dealer but if you didn't , you don't have Pioneer's warranty so I guess it really won't matter.  Be careful soldering the pins.  Some people have damaged their units by melting the wax around the pins and having solder roll off and shorting other pins together.  Unless you are experience at soldering, you should probably take your N2 to a computer repair shop and have them do it for you.  Good luck!

That is weird, my speed pulse says 0 when i'm moving but the speedo in the N1 still works.

Can I just copy all the files to the computer, modify them, and then burn them to a Dual Layer? For some reason my 40MT I can't strip it as an iso for the life of me, but I can copy it to the hard drive.

Does anyone know if there is any problems with upgrading the n2 with the 60 software, but using the 50 discs for your maps?

I tried this tonight on my N1 after work (after I upgraded to the 60 software). It told me it was an invalid disc, and to install the appropriate disc. Plus, that would totally negate the reason for upgrading. The 60 maps are so much better it's not even funny.

Yea, I want the 60 maps and software, however I need the 60 east disc...  Maybe I can convince someone at the local stereo shop to let me borrow a copy of the 60 east disc for about 15 minutes.  Modding Avic-N1/N2 Nav DVD’s - Page 28 -- posted image.

If you are able to get a hold of the east a torrent would be nice for the rest of us. In another 6-7 hours I should have the west done and can help seed it for a while. Luckily I am on both the east and west disk, but it would be nice to get the east disk before long.
Let us know how it goes obtaining the east disk...

Have you guys figured out whether or not the service manual procedures are the same for the N2 as they are for the N1.  I will be installing the N3 software sometime this weekend but if for some reason the installation messes up or my discs will not work properly, I would like to be able to install my N2 software again.  I'm just curious because when I had my N1 I burned the N2 software onto a Memorex DL DVD+R and I was able to install it but I was not able to map any routes.  At the time I didn't know about the service menu so I ended up having to purchase the N2 software.  I sold the N1, now I have the N2 and I would like to install the N3 software but I want to make sure the steps are the same for the service menu.  Anyone know?

Should be the same across all unit from N1 to N3 even the D1 style units because its handled in firmware.
