Just to be sure... is the parking brake on? :)
Also, there are instructions earlier in this thread about re-flashing to an older version, so you should be able to get your 50 discs to work properly again, and even re-try the 60 discs.
Has anyone else tried the 60 east disc from the torrent?

I was reading that thread earlier today. It was for an N1. You think it will work the same for the N2?

I don't see why you would have a problem with the download. The only thing that was done was the DVD was put into my computer, and I loaded Alcohol 120% and made an image. I then took that image and RAR'ed it up and then posted the torrent. I would also like to hear back from someone who got the successfully running from the torrent. If it is in fact corrupted or something, then I'll remove it at once. I wouldn't want my work to have caused someones stereo to no longer work. I was only trying to do a favor. However, it does seem strange that the update worked correctly and that only those features are locked out. It sounds like an issue with the parking brake, etc. Flash back to the v50 DVD and see if it clears your issue. If it does not than I suspect a wiring problem.

I believe that you posted earlier that you have NOT done the mod yet to your N2. The N2 must be modded (remove head unit, peel up the silver sticker and solder the two points together, then connect the park brake lead to a ground). Once you have performed the mod, you will be able to watch videos, and perform all of the nav functions whether you're driving or not. Your only other option is to revert back to the previous software version by flashing the BIOS.

free_refil, i appreciate that you had the upload going and took the time to supply it to us. I am in no way blaming this on your work. My nav and everything was working fine the night before i did the update. I will have to wait until I get my car back from my body guy cuz it's getting some paint touchups done. That should be this weekend.

explor202, are you saying that the only way this update will work properly is if I mod my N2? MY ebrake wire is currently hookup up to a switch and the switch is fully functional because if I go into the connection status screen on my N2, it shows the e-brake as on/off depending on when i toggle the switch. I have never had a problem before upgrading, so I cannot blame any wiring.

I'll have to wait until I get my car back to try again, but i'm really curious to if I must perform the bypass mod in order to get everything fully functional again.

Thanks.

If you went from the CNDV40MT software to either the CNDV50MT or CNDV60MT software, you have no choice but to perform the mod I mentioned above (and as posted throughout this forum). At least you're lucky. I have an N1 that does not have any kind of hardware mod to perform, so hopefully we'll either get the 555 timer thing to work, or come up with a software mod.

Thanks.

I went from the CNDV50MT software to the CND60MT. You just gave me a sign of relief with that information. I hadn't the slightest clue that you had to mod the unit in order to use the updated software.

Thanks for that sign of relief. I'll post my results when I finally mod the unit.

Well, I have successfully upgraded my avic-n2 to 60 east with free_refil\'s torrent listed earlier in this thread. I turned the car on, pulled the parking brake, ejected the disc that was in there, and inserted my copy of the 60 east disc. After about 5 minutes and two restarts by the avic, everything was done. It works beautifully. My avic is NOT modded. I can route new locations from POI search, see some new roads, route old locations, and everything else that I could do with no problems at all. Obviously I can’t do much while driving, but I expected that, since my avic is NOT modded. The software is MUCH quicker and MUCH more responsive than 50mt v1.1. It is actually hard to keep up with it now, since moving between menu’s and searching for locations runs much quicker. So, in case anyone is wondering, the 60 east disc from the torrent works fine, and you unit does not need to be modded to use it. Thank you free_refil.

so then wtf happened to mine. Damnit, i'm worried again. I love the new software, you are right, it is a lot faster and because of the new colour schemes, I can see it better while in the drivers seat.

How can I reset my unit to the point where I have to pick my region? I remember when I took my car back to Best Buy to get a ground loop fixed, my navi asked me to pick a region number that was displayed on a map on the screen. I had to pick number 12 I think for Ontario. When that screen was up, I was also limited to the same options I have now, so i'm thinking maybe I can do that same region selection again and hopefully that will work.

So anyone knowhow to reset the navigation fully?

You Burned the discs WRONG. Usually when this happends there is a Problem while Burning IDX Folder inside the disc. Try Burning them Using ROXIO ... Make a DATA DVD. It works great fo me.
