Gents,

Please let me know what the best solutions are.  I had my alarm installed in my pickup and I was wondering WTF was going on! They are not a compustar dealer, but I thought they could handle the install.

#1

They used the alternator sensing wire and ran it from my engine bay into the alarm with a gauge wire. He told me this was the only option. is there any other way this can be done from in the cab? I don't like a wire running across my engine.

#2

45min to 1 hr my alarm will set itself off and show the door opened but it is not really opened and there is no entry???  Have any of you heard of this????? I will rearm it and it will not do it again until it is armed after I drive it?????

Also if any of you know any special features of this alarm let me know. I know nothing special regarding this alarm system and there are 2 other buttons and I have no idea what they are for???

Thanks in advance.

my suggestion would have been to buy and get installed at an authorized Compustar dealer.  They would know the ins and outs of the alarm.  Also, they should have went to tach on that truck and it sounds like they may have tagged the wrong door trigger.

First of all, whoever installed it, isnt gooa at all. There are so many way's to find tach its unbelivable. First, obviously what directechs says. Second, any fuel injector, or coilpack. On some vehicles it might be hard, so alternater can be used, I have done it, only on newer dodge trucks with the disiel. Second any wires run under the hood should never be over the engine, they should always be loomed and zip tied, to look stock and to be kept away from the heat. The door trigger sounds like an isolation problem, as said in the link in the previous post, or the wrong door trigger period. I would also check into the possibility of interference with a factory alarm, usually they arm in 30 seconds or so, but it could go to sleep or something, make sure the dealer bypassed the alarm correctly.

The other two button's on your remote, I assume number 3 and 4, are as follows: Number three is trunk pop, in your case nothing unless hooked up to some aftermarket accessory. Number 4 is query, when pressed it will give you an update on you car, such as open door, etc.

Hope this helps a bit

Jack
